German sportswear manufacturer Adidas has removed a photo of American model Bella Hadid from an advertisement for sports shoes that were first released for the 1972 Munich Olympics. During the event, the Palestinian group Black September broke into the Olympic Village and killed 11 members of the Israeli team, The Guardian reports, UNN reports.

Israel expressed its indignation at Hadid's participation in the sneaker commercial.
“Bella Hadid is a half-Palestinian model who has a history of spreading anti-Semitism and calling for violence against Israelis and Jews. She and her father frequently promote anti-Semitic plots against Jews,” the country's official account on the X network reported.
In a statement, Adidas said that the SL72 shoe ad “brings together a wide range of partners.” At the same time, Adidas realizes that it has made connections to tragic historical events, but adds that this was unintentional. The company apologized and will revise its advertising campaign.
However, it is unclear what changes to expect. Other advertising images featuring Adidas brand ambassadors, including French footballer Jules Cundé, American rapper A$AP Nast and Chinese model Sabrina Lan, remain online.
Over the years, Bella Hadid has criticized the Israeli government and supported the Palestinians, and on October 23, 2023, she made a statement on Instagram mourning the loss of innocent lives and urging her followers to support civilians in Gaza.
