The July full moon can be seen in the sky this weekend, according to specialized monitoring sites, UNN writes.

Details

In July, the full moon is called the Buck Moon. It is named after the new antlers that emerge on a deer buck's forehead around this time.

According to the Time and Date website, the full moon is expected to appear in Kyiv on Sunday, July 21, at 13:17. But, as Space.com notes, the moon will still look full the night before and after the peak.

According to an article on NASA's website, July's full moon is also called the "thunder" moon because of early summer's frequent thunderstorms. Another name for July's full moon is the "hay" moon (for when farmers race to put hay in their barns around the storms), Earthsky.com reported. According to AccuWeather, other full moon nicknames this month include the berry moon, the halfway summer moon and the salmon moon.

The full moon can always be seen with the naked eye on clear nights. But by looking at the Moon through binoculars or a small telescope, you can get a clearer image of certain areas of the Earth-facing side of the Moon.

Addendum

The next full moon after the Deer Moon will be the Sturgeon Moon on August 19. According to Live Science, this will be the first of four consecutive supermoons in 2024.
