Vyacheslav Zinchenko, a suspect in the murder of Iryna Farion, was transferred to another penitentiary institution to ensure his safety. This is stated in the decision of the Galician District Court of Lviv, reports UNN.
According to the case file, on August 5, Farion, a suspect in the murder, filed a statement with the police about the crime.
According to his statement, on July 26, during a break in the court hearing in which a preventive measure was being imposed on him, Farion's daughter, in the presence of journalists, prosecutors and others in the courtroom, threatened to kill Zinchenko. However, in his opinion, contrary to the current legislation, the information about the criminal offense was not registered in the URPTI and the pre-trial investigation into the said crime was not initiated.
Therefore, the lawyer appealed to the court to oblige law enforcement officers to open proceedings.
"The analysis of the video footage from the court hearing on the choice of a preventive measure of detention (of the suspect - ed.) revealed that the daughter of the victim, being in a high psycho-emotional state as a result of her mother's death, systematically asked why the latter killed her mother. Instead, the suspect demonstratively showed her his tongue with his mouth open, which in turn outraged her. The latter, being in a psycho-emotional state, began a verbal altercation, in which there were no direct explicit threats to the life and health of the suspect... It was also established that the Central Department of the Main Police in Lviv region on 26.07.2024 issued a decision to provide security measures to the suspect in the form of personal protection, as well as to place him in the temporary detention center №4 of the Main Police in Lviv region, "the court ruling said.

It is also reported that on July 31, the Halytskyi District Court of Lviv issued a court decision at the request of the investigator, for the purpose of personal protection of the suspect, who was moved from the Lviv Penitentiary Institution (№19) to the temporary detention center №4 of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region, where he is being held.
"This ensured the personal protection of the suspect. Thus, it was established that there were no direct threats to the life and health of the suspect. The check on the above materials has been terminated," the court ruling reads.
The Galician District Court of Lviv dismissed the complaint of a lawyer on behalf of Zinchenko against the inaction of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region, which consisted of failure to enter information about a criminal offense into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations.

The Lviv Court of Appeal remanded in custody Vyacheslav Zinchenko, a suspect in the murder of linguist and professor at Lviv Polytechnic Iryna Farion, until September 22.
