Fouga Magister collectible airplane crashes into the sea during an air show in France

In France, during a demonstration flight at an air show on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, a Fouga Magister collector's plane crashed into the sea . Le Figaro writes about it, UNN reports.

Details

The incident occurred on  Friday evening in the Var department. The crash was confirmed by the local port authority.

During the crash, the pilot was unable to eject. His fate is currently unknown. Rescuers are working at sea, and the air show has been suspended.

The rescue operations to find the pilot are currently being coordinated by the Mediterranean Regional Operations Center for Surveillance and Rescue (CROSS). The search is being carried out by the Var Fire and Rescue Service and the Maritime Gendarmerie

The Fouga Magister, the former flagship aircraft of the French Air Force from 1964 to 1981, was specially designed for flight schools and training. The aircraft is particularly popular among collectors.
