A case against a man from Kherson region accused of illegal arms trafficking has been brought to court. The defendant faces up to seven years in prison. This was stated by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, UNN reports.

Investigators found out that the 38-year-old man bought weapons on a specialized website and then sold them at a higher price online, avoiding personal meetings with buyers. He sent orders to customers by mail, using fictitious names and surnames to send parcels.
Law enforcement officers recorded the sale of AK-74, AKS-74, AKM and PM pistols. In particular, the seller received from 45 thousand to 50 thousand UAH for an assault rifle. During a search of the house where the accused lives, the following items were seized: an AKS-74U assault rifle, an F-1 grenade, a PM pistol, a TT pistol, and more than 350 rounds of ammunition.

Under the procedural supervision of the Podilskyi District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv, an indictment against a native of Kherson city was sent to court on the fact of illegal carrying, storage, purchase, sale of firearms and ammunition (Part 2 Art. 28, Part 1 Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
For illegal possession and sale of weapons, the sanction of the article provides for a sentence of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
It is also noted that law enforcement officers identified the persons who illegally purchased weapons from the man as part of the criminal proceedings.
