Andriy and his family are alive, but the apartment was destroyed.
His wife, Tetyana Khytryk, wrote on social media wrote "we survived and that's the main thing... the apartment is gone now".
Kovalsky later clarified that the fire was was extinguished, but everything else was smashed, from the windows to the TV. In his social media posts Kovalsky thanked people for their support.
