A man from the city of Balei, who works as a security guard, found a coffee grinder on the street, just lying in a bag near his house.
He brought it home and left, and his son plugged the grinder in, causing an explosion.
The eighth-grader sustained serious multiple shrapnel injuries that resulted in the amputation of his hand.
Local forensic experts collected fragments of the coffee grinder, including a fragment that looked like an electric detonator.
