Japan's iconic Mount Fuji, known for its snow cover that forms around this time of year, remained snowless in November for the first time in 130 years, likely due to extremely high temperatures in recent weeks. According to meteorologists, the absence of snow on Mount Fuji, a UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site, breaks the previous record set on October 26, 2016.
Last year, snow fell on the mountain on October 5, according to the JMA. Usually 3,776 meters high, the mountain has seen light snowfall at the summit in previous years starting on October 2.
Thus, the declaration was made about a month later.
