The SBU Counterintelligence Service, together with the Bureau of Economic Security and the management of Ukrainian Defense Industry JSC, eliminated the scheme of misappropriation of budget funds for the purchase of spare parts for combat aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the SBU press service, according to UNN.

Investigators found out that the director of a defense company, together with his accomplices, tried to steal almost 4 million budget UAH for the purchase of relevant aircraft equipment.

Law enforcement officers exposed the deal in a timely manner and documented it in stages. After that, the entire amount of the contract in the amount of UAH 3.9 million was seized, thus blocking attempts to misappropriate the money.
Currently, the former director of the state-owned enterprise, the head of the supplier company and two other accomplices have been notified of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 5 of Art. 191 (misappropriation, embezzlement or seizure of property through abuse of office) and Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 366 (forgery committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons)
The SBU adds that the investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice. In particular, the involvement of the defendants in committing crimes during the conclusion of other defense contracts is being checked. The offenders face up to 12 years in prison.

The agency said that the director of a defense company signed a contract with an affiliated commercial entity to purchase an aircraft module. However, the businessmen supplied the state-owned enterprise with faulty components, and its head ordered to take the defective products on the balance sheet and pay for them.
It is noted that for this purpose, the official signed accounting documents for the acceptance of faulty property. Based on these documents, the defense company transferred the first part of the payment to the merchants in the amount of UAH 1.9 million.

Investigators found that in the future the participants of the "scheme" planned to bring this money into the shadow through controlled companies, cash it out and distribute it among themselves.
Clarification
According to the Bureau of Economic Security , a Kyiv court imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention on the co-organizer and the entrepreneur who supplied the faulty equipment. Another accomplice will be placed under house arrest.
