One of the groups was detained on the outskirts of Dubrynychi, Uzhhorod district. Law enforcement officers stopped a car with Ukrainian registration that was heading toward Slovakia. It was carrying eight men of military age who turned out to be residents of Zakarpattia. Border guards found that the driver of the car had agreed to bring his fellow villagers to the border and assist in their transportation to Slovakia in exchange for a monetary reward. During the arrest, he tried to escape, but the soldiers stopped him.

Another group, consisting of four Transcarpathians, was stopped in the area of responsibility of the Palad Komarivtsi department.

Three more offenders were detained in the area of responsibility of the Uzhhorod and Novoselytsia departments. One person admitted to intending to get to Slovakia outside the checkpoints, while the other two were in the border area without identification documents.

The men who tried to illegally cross the border were detained administratively. They were brought to administrative liability under Article 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses "Illegal crossing or attempt to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine."

The actions of the smuggler have signs of a criminal offense under Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine".
