About 600 trucks are lined up on the Slovak-Ukrainian border after Slovak carriers began blocking the border, joining Polish drivers

As of this morning, about 600 trucks are queuing in Slovakia towards the border with Ukraine amid a blockade by Slovak truckers. This was reported by the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, during a telethon on Saturday, according to a correspondent of UNN .

As of this morning, there are about 600 trucks waiting in line to cross the border to Ukraine in Slovakia. As we reported, after 16:00 we received information from our Slovak colleagues that the Union of Carriers of Slovakia started blocking traffic on the access road to the border

, said Demchenko.

Details

The SBGS spokesman noted that over the past day, December 1, a total of about 320 vehicles crossed the Slovak border at the Uzhhorod-Vysne Nemecke checkpoint in both directions.

"It should be understood that this direction has also been quite active in truck traffic lately due to the actions taking place on the Polish border. Drivers have chosen alternative directions, in particular, the direction of the border with Slovakia," said Demchenko.

Addendum

On December 1, Slovak truckers began blocking truck traffic at the Vysne Nemecke border crossing with Ukraine, allowing limited passage. They joined Polish truck drivers who are demanding that the EU reinstate truck permits that were canceled after the Russian invasion.

European Commissioner for Transport Adina Veljan said on November 29 that Ukraine and the EU cannot be "hostages" of Polish truckers blocking the border. According to her, the situation is "unacceptable" and Brussels reserves the right to intervene to ensure compliance with the rules and application of the law.
