SBU CI prevented a new series of Russian missile strikes in Cherkasy and Odesa regions. This was possible due to the timely exposure of an offender who collected information on the location of air defense radar stations in these regions

- , the SBU said in a statement.

It is noted that such complexes protect the infrastructure of the regions and help air defense to detect enemy missiles and drones.

According to the investigation, the informant was a 47-year-old resident of Cherkasy, an ideological supporter of racism.  After the full-scale invasion of Russia, the man hoped that his "work" would be noticed by the racists. The SBU exposed the criminal's criminal intentions at the initial stage of his activities. The SBU investigators served the offender a notice of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  •  ч. 2 of Art. 114-2 (unauthorized dissemination of information on the direction, movement of weapons, movement, relocation or deployment of the AFU committed under martial law);
  •  chs. 1, 3, Art. 436-2 (justification, recognition of the legitimacy, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

A custody was chosen as a measure of restraint.  The offender faces up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.
