The story goes that on Tuesday, December 26, two fishermen spotted the car under a bridge over the the Salt Creek River in Indiana. They looked inside and found a man on the seat the driver's seat. One of the fishermen touched the man, after which he regained consciousness and spoke.

The victim was identified as 27-year-old Matthew Reum from from the city of Mishawaka. It turned out that he had been in an accident on Wednesday, December 20, but was unable to call for help. The man also said that he was screaming, to attract the attention of possible passersby, but no one responded. In order to to survive, he had to drink rainwater for six days.
