British intelligence reports that the Russian defense industry is trying to close the gap with Ukraine in the development of unmanned surface vehicles for unilateral strike.

On November 27, 2023, Mikhail Danilenko, the head of the Russian firm KMZ, announced that their unmanned surface vehicles would be tested as part of a "special military operation" with the aim of establishing mass production in 2024

- according to the British Ministry of Defense.

KMZ used to produce a number of surface vehicles, but in recent months they have begun to advertise their unilateral strike capabilities. Danilenko noted that the boat can carry ammunition weighing up to 600 kg.

"With modern types similar to speedboats packed with explosives, they have become a key potential in the maritime sphere in the hands of Ukrainian forces after a full-scale Russian invasion," the intelligence service added.
