Russian Captain Dmitry Digot was sentenced in absentia to life in prison for the massacre of civilians in Bucha, Ukraine. Evidence showed that he commanded punitive operations and personally committed violence.

Russian captain Dmitry Dygot, who was involved in the massacres of civilians in Ukraine, was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment. This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine, according to UNN.

Details 

The agency said that while holding the position of head of intelligence of the 64th separate motorized rifle brigade of the Russian armed forces, he participated in the capture of the Buchansky district in Kyiv region.

It was Dygot who commanded his subordinates during punitive actions in the temporarily occupied part of Kyiv region. During such "raids", the Nazis kidnapped and killed people and looted private homes.

Based on the evidence collected, the court found Dyegt guilty under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war) and sentenced him to life imprisonment in absentia. Currently, comprehensive measures are being taken to establish the whereabouts of the convicted person to punish him for his crimes against the citizens of our country

It is noted that the investigation was conducted by the SBU in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv-Svyatoshinsky District and Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Offices.

Investigators found that Dygot  personally used firearms against civilians. In particular, on March 3, 2022, on a street in Havronshchyna, Dihot stopped an unarmed 70-year-old citizen and hit him in the face with the butt of his assault rifle.

After that, the occupier shot the civilian in the back.

A forensic medical examination initiated by the SBU confirmed that the local resident's death was caused by numerous gunshot wounds and blood loss

The Bucha massacre was a massacre of Ukrainian civilians in the city of Bucha, Kyiv region, accompanied by abductions, torture, rape, including of children, and looting. The crimes were committed by the armed forces and other formations of the Russian Federation during the Russian-Ukrainian war during the Russian invasion in March 2022.
