The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has proposed a draft law to revise the procedure for mobilization and military service, including changes to the conscription age and leave for recovery from injury. Shortly after its submission, the draft law became unavailable on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.

The Cabinet of Ministers has submitted a bill to the Rada to improve certain issues of mobilization, military registration and military service. A few minutes later, it became unavailable for viewing on the website of the Verkhovna Rada, UNN reports.

According to Hromadske, the explanatory note reads, in particular, as follows:

changing the conscription age from 27 to 25 years;

improving the procedure for military registration of conscripts, persons liable for military service and reservists;

Enabling servicemen released from captivity to rest and recuperate by granting them additional leave with pay for 90 calendar days;

Exclusion of conscript service as a type of military service. Thus, all military personnel in regular military service are proposed to be discharged into the reserve;

establishing that persons liable for military service during mobilization are not subject to call-up for military service during two years from the date of discharge from military service who performed military service during the legal regime of martial law and were discharged from military service in the reserve. Such persons may be called up for military service during this period upon their consent;

exclusion of the conclusion on limited fitness for military service from the list of conclusions of military medical commissions;

exclusion of regular military service as a type of military service and dismissal of all military personnel in the reserve;

Introduction of basic general military training for citizens of Ukraine for up to 3 months for all citizens aged 18 to 25 at all educational institutions;

introducing optional basic military service up to the age of 25 for those who have not completed basic military training;

restrictions on the rights of Ukrainian citizens who evade military registration and military service;

involvement of administrative service centers, employment centers and recruitment centers in military recruitment activities.

The explanatory note states that the draft law should create conditions for "proper manning of combat units during the repulsion of armed aggression against Ukraine."

The authors of the draft law expect that if adopted, it will improve the process of manning the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during mobilization, the publication adds.
