The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance assured of the continued support of Ukraine by its allies and partners.

Today, on December 4, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov held talks with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the Alliance's press service reported, according to UNN.

Details 

The parties discussed the current situation at the front and the urgent military needs of the Defense Forces in countering Russian aggression. In particular, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance assured of the continued support of Ukraine by its allies and partners.

With winter expected to complicate the fighting, Stoltenberg stressed that the Allies are determined to increase political and practical support for Ukraine in its defense against Russian invasion

 - NATO noted.

Stoltenberg confirmed that the bloc will provide long-term support to the Ukrainian side to make the Ukrainian Armed Forces "fully interoperable" with NATO and "bring them even closer to the Alliance."

At the same time, Defense Minister Umerov and the NATO Secretary General also discussed Ukraine's path to membership in the Alliance and Kyiv's reform efforts.

We are working in the Defense Ministry to ensure full interoperability of the Ukrainian Defense Forces with NATO. Ukraine's membership in NATO is inevitable. Our country has chosen its course long ago. We are working on practical steps to bring our country closer to NATO membership.
