Flooding of the Kyiv subway tunnel: Shmyhal instructed to assemble an emergency commission, Klitschko is expected to report

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal instructed to hold a meeting of the State Commission on Technogenic and Ecological Safety and Emergencies tomorrow due to the flooding of the Kyiv subway tunnel. The head of the Kyiv City State Administration Vitali Klitschko is also expected to present a detailed report, UNN reports.

Shmyhal noted that during a full-scale war, the Kyiv subway has a double strategic importance - as a transportation artery and as a bomb shelter where thousands of people find refuge.

Due to the actions or inaction of the city authorities, there is a threat of flooding and destruction of the tunnels of the "blue" line of the capital's subway. This will have a direct impact on the safety of Kyiv residents, the Prime Minister emphasizes.

He instructed to hold a meeting of the State Commission on Technogenic and Ecological Safety and Emergency Situations on December 9 with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov, Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, Head of the Ministry of Strategic Industry Oleksandr Kamyshyn, Acting Head of the State Emergency Service Volodymyr Demchuk, and Head of the Kyiv Metro Viktor Braginsky. We also expect the presence of the head of the Kyiv City State Administration Vitaliy Klitschko with a detailed report on this issue

The Prime Minister added that "our task is to quickly assess the situation and take measures to prevent it from developing in a negative scenario. The most important thing is to protect people's lives and health and avoid a transport collapse in the capital."
