The leader of the British Labor Party, Keir Starmer, also commented on the death of the former chancellor.
"He will be remembered as a chancellor whose calm experience and integrity helped guide Britain through the turmoil of the global financial crisis," he said.

Darling has been a member of Parliament since 1987. He held various senior positions in the Labor government, including Transport Secretary, Scottish Secretary and Business Secretary, before being promoted to Chancellor in 2007.
However, Alistair Darling was best known as the man who looked after the UK economy when half of its banking system collapsed.
