Hungary has informed the EU of the end of its 'peace mission' in Ukraine after criticism from the Union. However, European capitals doubt the sincerity of this statement and do not rule out a possible resumption of the 'mission' by Orban.

Hungary has assured the European Union that it has completed the so-called "peace mission" in Ukraine. This was reported by El Pais, citing sources, according to UNN

Orbán's meetings with Putin in Moscow, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Donald Trump to discuss Ukraine as part of an alleged "peace mission" that coincided with the start of Hungary's six-month presidency of the EU Council, have caused outrage among the community's institutions and most capitals in the bloc.

It is noted that the EU and the European Parliament have called for retaliatory measures against Budapest and are already boycotting high-level meetings organized by Hungary, which holds the EU Council presidency.

After disagreements that forced Budapest to account for these meetings, Hungary has ended this "peace mission," according to a note sent to member states by Hungarian Minister of European Affairs János Boka, as reported by several diplomatic sources.

However, capitals doubt that this is true and believe that Orban, a great provocateur, can resume this maneuver whenever he wants.

After his visits to Russia and China, Orban provided the EU with his own "peace plan" for the war in UkraineJuly 15 2024, 11:18 AM • 31815 views

Addendum

On July 19, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban saidthat he would continue his self-proclaimed "peace mission" despite criticism from the European Union that he had overstepped the role of his country's current presidency of the bloc.
