A criminal case has been opened in Russia against writer Boris Akunin for allegedly spreading false information about the Russian army and promoting extremism. Akunin is also included in the list of terrorists/extremists by Rosfinmonitoring.

A criminal case has been opened in Russia against writer Boris Akunin, UNN reports, citing the Russian Telegram channel 112.

According to 112, Grigory Chkhartishvili (real name Akunin) is accused of spreading fakes about the Russian army and calling for extremist activities.

Earlier, Rosfinmonitoring included the author in the list of terrorists and extremists .

Boris Akunin is a Russian fiction writer, screenwriter, orientalist, literary critic and translator of Georgian origin; he is opposed to the Putin regime and moved to France, although he claims that he "did not emigrate."
