At the same time, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada expressed confidence that there would be enough votes in the session hall to support the bill.

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk believes that MPs may vote in the second reading on a bill to ban the UOC-MP in Ukraine in early 2024. He said this in an exclusive interview with We-Ukraine, UNN reports.

"We now expect the Committee to make the necessary decisions, consultations, and adopt the bill as a proposal in the second reading. I hope that somewhere this issue can be resolved literally at the beginning of next year," Stefanchuk said.

At the same time, he expressed confidence that there would be enough votes in the session hall to support the bill.

"It will depend on the text that will be developed. You saw that in the first reading there was support from the hall," the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament emphasized.

As reported, at a meeting on Thursday, October 19, the Verkhovna Rada voted in the first reading for draft law No. 8371, which provides for a ban on the activities of religious organizations associated with the aggressor country.
