Large-scale violations worth almost UAH 40 million revealed in one of the military units - Ministry of Defense

An audit of the Defense Ministry has revealed violations in one of the military units in Chernihiv region worth almost 40 million hryvnias, and criminal proceedings have been initiated. UNN reports this with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

The Internal Audit Service of the Ministry of Defense, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies, conducted an audit of a military unit in Chernihiv region. The auditors found violations that led to losses to the state in the amount of UAH 38.8 million

Details

The largest of the four violations is the unjustified overstatement of the cost of generators purchased in 2022, which caused UAH 37.1 million in losses.

The audit found that officials of the military unit entered into additional agreements with suppliers, which significantly changed the terms of the contract. As a result, they purchased 163 generators less than the required amount.

Moreover, between October 2022 and April 2023, when the military critically needed generators, most of them were not delivered to military units but accumulated in warehouses. The share of generators issued for use did not exceed 15% of the purchased ones

Other violations totaling 1.7 million hryvnias were also found.In addition, the audit of the Internal Audit Service of the Ministry of Defense revealed facts of obstruction of the auditors' actions.As for the violations of officials - in particular, the commander of a military unit - that led to losses from the state budget, the materials were transferred to law enforcement agencies by the decision of the Ministry of Defense leadership.
