End-to-end encryption provides an additional layer of security. This means that no one, including Meta, can see information from private chats and voice and video calls.
The option to enable this feature as an additional feature has been present in Messenger since 2016, but now it is done by default. "It took years to get this right because we took the time to get it right," the message says.
New privacy, security, and control features were also introduced for Messenger. For example, delivery controls, blocking, and notification requests.
