Ministry of Finance: since the beginning of the year Ukraine has allocated more than UAH 75 billion for social payments

In January-February 2024, UAH 75.3 billion was allocated from the state budget for social payments, including pensions, support for low-income families, benefits and housing subsidies, and social protection of children, families and people with disabilities.

Details

In January and February 2024, UAH 75.3 billion was allocated from the state budget for social payments, with UAH 38.2 billion allocated in February alone.

These funds have been allocated:

- UAH 42.5 billion, of which in February UAH 21.5 billion was allocated to finance the payment of pensions, bonuses and increases to pensions granted under pension programs, and the Pension Fund's deficit;

- UAH 17.09 billion, including UAH 8.6 billion in February for social protection of citizens in difficult life circumstances;

- UAH 2.2 billion , including UAH 1.2 billion in February to support low-income families;

- UAH 9.4 billion, including UAH 4.8 billion in February for the provision of benefits and housing subsidies to citizens;

- UAH 3.8 billion, including UAH 1.9 billion billion in February for social protection of children and families;

- UAH 0.3 billion, of which in February UAH 0.25 billion was allocated for social protection of people with disabilities.

"This year, social expenditures are the second largest after security and defense. Thus, we have increased the program to support low-income families, almost doubled the payments for social protection of people with disabilities, and continue to help IDPs. In the first months of 2024, the Ministry of Finance continued to maintain economic stability and fulfill its social obligations. All social needs have been met in a timely manner and in full, and we will continue this trend in the future," commented Deputy Minister of Finance Roman Yermolychev.

The state budget deficit reached UAH 14.9 billion in January 2024, with the general fund deficit amounting to UAH 33.3 billion, according to the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
