People are afraid to leave their homes: the situation with stray dogs in occupied Mariupol is catastrophic

Mariupol is facing an acute problem of stray dogs due to the escape or death of pet owners, as well as the destruction of local animal protection services. The occupation forces do not take effective measures, and residents report packs of dogs and express fears for their safety.

In Russian-occupied Mariupol, the situation with stray dogs is catastrophic. This is reported by the Mariupol City Council, UNN reports.

The department explained that the number of animals has increased because their owners died or left the blockade.

Instead, the occupiers destroyed the specialized utility company "Happy Animals", which was engaged in sterilization and vaccination of dogs. The occupiers did not carry out any systematic work to resolve the issue of stray animals.

Now, residents of the city report in local chats about numerous packs of stray dogs in different parts of the city. In some places, citizens are afraid to walk near their homes. 

The Mariupol City Council also released a video from the Russian-occupied city showing a pack of stray dogs roaming in the middle of the street. 

Addendum The agency emphasizes that the occupation administration is not taking any action to resolve this issue.
