The Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy supported two important for European integration governmental anti-corruption draft laws aimed at expanding the NABU staff and amending the NACP's powers in the field of asset verification

The Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy has recommended that the Verkhovna Rada adopt two government draft laws on anti-corruption policy that are European integration requirements, the government's representative in parliament, Taras Melnychuk, said on Wednesday, UNN reports.

Details

These are the draft laws on NABU (No. 10203-1) and on NAPC (No. 10262).

The first draft law proposes to gradually increase the maximum number of NABU staff from 700 to 1000 people, including an increase in the number of senior staff from 500 to 750 people.

The second draft law proposes to amend the law "On Prevention of Corruption" to bring it in line with the conclusions of the European Commission in terms of lifting restrictions on the NACP's powers to continue verification of assets that have already been verified and to verify property acquired by declarants before their appointment to a civil service position. [On November 21, the Verkhovna Rada passed in the first reading a draft law on increasing the staff of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine to 1,000 people. This step was recommended by the European Commission and the United States in their reports.

On the same day , the Verkhovna Rada passed in the first reading a draft law on the NACP's ability to check property acquired before the civil service. This is also one of the important conditions for European integration.
