"Rivnegaz, Chernivtsiagaz, and Zaporizhgaz were brought under the state control of Naftogaz of Ukraine, and a total of 22 regional gas companies have been nationalized to strengthen energy security and promote deoligarchization reforms.

Gas distribution companies JSC Rivnegaz, JSC Zaporizhgaz and JSC Chernivtsiagaz have come under state control and will operate as part of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, UNN reports .

Thus, the number of regional gas companies that have been transferred to state control has increased to 22. The return of gas distribution infrastructure to state control is part of the implementation of the de-oligarchization reform launched by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The process was launched in November 2022, when the Government, on the proposal of Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, decided to on the renegotiation of contracts for the operation of state-owned gas distribution networks. Which launched the process of returning state property to state control оf the state.

The purpose of such a decision in times of war is to ensure national and energy security.

The task of the state is to provide citizens with uninterrupted gas supply to its citizens. In addition, the process of returning the networks to state control gives a start to solving the problems that arose after the privatization of regional gas companies, which took place more than 10 years ago

said Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko.

It should be added that the three companies that have come under state control will serve almost a million customers.

In October-November, the state took control of JSC "Volyngaz, Chernihivgaz, and Zakarpatgaz were transferred to the state.
