Slovakia decides to extend ban on imports of agricultural products from Ukraine and tighten transit rules

The Slovak government, headed by Prime Minister Robert Fitzo, decided on Wednesday to extend a ban on imports of agricultural products from Ukraine and tighten transit rules. This UNN reports with reference to Novinky.cz.

Details

Thus, in addition to wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds, the import ban will also be extended to honey, sugar, malt and soybeans.

It is reported that under a proposal by Agriculture Minister Richard Takács, the transit of all other agricultural products and foodstuffs from Ukraine would be subject to customs closure. In practice, this means that shipments would be sealed.

The Agriculture Ministry's proposal states that such measures are necessary, among other things, because of the lack of a pan-European decision regarding Ukrainian goods.

Recall

The European Commission on September 15 decided not to extend the ban on imports of Ukrainian grain, provided that Ukraine adheres to certain rules.

However, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia have imposed unilateral bans at the state level.
