The blocking of the border by Polish carriers may be stopped in court

Ukrainian business has started trying to stop the blocking of the Polish-Ukrainian border in a legal way. Complaints have already been filed with local authorities in Poland. This was reported by the BBC, citing Yaroslav Romanchuk, chairman of the board of the Association of Ukrainian Business in Poland, UNN reports.

Poles have been talking a lot lately, fighting, participating in elections to ensure the rule of law. But when it comes to relations with Ukraine, for some reason this rule of law is put aside

He also noted that so far, everyone is optimistic that the local authorities will influence the strikers and the case will not go to court.

"We are not interested in the trial, we are interested in the process of unblocking the border," Romanchuk explained.

The Association of International Carriers of Ukraine has already filed the first complaints with local authorities in Poland in the territories where the blocked border crossing points are located. This should bring the dispute into a practical legal environment.

After receiving the complaints, the leaders of the territorial communities are obliged to appeal to the organizers of the blockade to stop the action. After two warnings, local authorities have the right to dissolve the strike by their own decision. If they do not intervene, this will be grounds for a lawsuit against the local authorities for inaction.

Currently, the first priority of the legal initiative is to lift the blockade from the border. However, it is possible that the next step may be to compensate for the losses incurred by businesses due to the strike.

Today, about 3300 trucks are queuing on the Polish side of the border with Ukraine, with the longest delays at the Shehyni and Rava-Ruska checkpoints.
