The EU says Ukraine may get EU membership by 2029

European Commissioner Oliver Varghese announced the possibility of Ukraine's accession to the EU by 2029. For this purpose, a special “Ukraine Plan” has been created and all the conditions for reforms must be met.

Ukraine will be able to become a member of the European Union within the next five years if it fulfills all the necessary conditions. This was stated by European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varghese , Deutsche Wellereports and UNN.

During a briefing on the occasion of the presentation of a report on EU enlargement, Vargey assured that Ukraine could join  the European Union by the end of the decade. 

According to him, additional tools have been created for Ukraine, Moldova, and the Western Balkans to “help them accelerate reforms.

 These instruments are called “Growth Plan”, “Ukraine Plan”, depending on the country. And with this plan, we have made it possible for the Western Balkans, Moldova, and also for Ukraine to complete the reforms to get everything ready and become an EU member by the end of the next mandate of the European Commission (i.e. 2029 - ed.)

The European Commission has approved the annual Enlargement Package assessing Ukraine's progress towards the EU. Provided all requirements are met, negotiations on clusters could start in 2025.
