The state Bureau of Investigation has launched an investigation into the discovery of unrecorded microchips in a military unit in Zhytomyr region worth more than UAH 65 million

The state Bureau of Investigation is investigating the discovery of 50 tons of unregistered microchips worth more than 65 million hryvnias in the Zhytomyr military unit, suspecting theft of military property during martial law. The chips contained precious metals, including gold and silver.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the discovery of 50 tons of unregistered microchips containing precious metals in one of the military units of Zhytomyr region. This was reported by the state Bureau of Investigation, writes UNN.

Details

During the inspection conducted by the Department of alienation and disposal of excess military property and the Audit Department of the Ministry of Defense, blocks with 50 tons of unregistered chips containing precious metals worth more than 65 million hryvnias were found in the Zhytomyr military unit.

The audit results were transmitted to the state Bureau of Investigation. Now priority investigative actions are being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the criminal offense and the possible involvement of officials of the unit in it is being checked.

Preliminary qualification of an offense: theft, misappropriation of military property or taking it by fraud, committed under martial law (Part 4 of Article 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The Ministry of Defense reported that it was possible to prevent the loss of valuable chips which contain 28 kg of gold, 60 kg of silver, 590 grams of platinum group metals.
