U.S. forces, backed by destroyers from U.S. European Command, destroyed more than 80 attack drones and at least six ballistic missiles targeting Israel from Iran and Yemen over the weekend, according to U.S. Central Command.

US forces, supported by destroyers of the US European Command, destroyed more than 80 attack drones and at least six ballistic missiles targeting Israel from Iran and Yemen on Saturday and Sunday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported on Monday, confirming that remains postured to support Israel’s defense, UNN writes citing Reuters.

According to CENTCOM, this includes a ballistic missile on its launch vehicle and seven UAVs destroyed on the ground before they were launched in areas controlled by Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen.

Late Saturday night, Iran attacked Israeli territory with drones and missiles "in response to an alleged Israeli strike on its embassy compound in Syria on April 1, which killed senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commanders," the newspaper writes.

The attack of more than 300 missiles and drones, mostly launched from Iran, caused, as the publication describes, only "modest" damage, as most of them were shot down by Israel's Iron Dome defense system and with the help of the United States, Britain, France, and Jordan.

"CENTCOM remains ready to support Israel's defense against these dangerous actions by Iran. We will continue to work with all our regional partners to enhance regional security," the US military said.
