President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is confident that russia will not comply with the ceasefire in response to French leader Emmanuel Macron's request for an "Olympic truce." The head of state said this in an interview with the famous French journalist-blogger Hugo Travers.

In response to a request to "evaluate Macron's idea of a truce during the Olympics," Zelenskyy emphasized that russia has never observed a "regime of silence.

I do not believe in this (Olympic truce - ed.) with russia. Not in this format - a truce in general - but in any format of a truce with russia. Emmanuel knows this, and he is a witness to it. We were in the Normandy format together, we went through the Minsk process together. France, Germany, Ukraine - we are all living witnesses to the fact that there is no such thing as a frozen conflict with russia

 The President explained that russia would use such a pause to regroup and strengthen its forces in order to strike again. Zelensky recalled that for months after the Normandy talks, when there was no actual ceasefire, snipers continued to hunt Ukrainian troops along the contact line.
