Ukraine transferred surplus electricity to Poland, due to Russian shelling there were problems with electricity in two regions - Energy Ministry

Due to the electricity surplus, Ukraine transferred 1488 MWh of excess electricity to Poland. Russian shelling caused new damage to power grids in Dnipropetrovs'k and Chernihiv regions.

Due to a surplus of electricity, Ukraine has been transferring surplus electricity to Poland, and new damage to power grids in Dnipropetrovs'k  and Chernihiv regions has been caused by Russian shelling over the past day. This was reported on Tuesday by the Ministry of Energy, UNN reports.  

Generation

The Ukrainian power system experienced a surplus of electricity yesterday. At the request of NPC Ukrenergo to the adjacent transmission system operator, the surplus was transferred to Poland in the total amount of 1488 MWh (from 10:30 to 14:00)

The ministry said that no shortage of electricity is expected today. There are 9 units of generating equipment of thermal power plants in reserve, which will be used if necessary, the Ministry of Energy said.   

"The situation is under control. The system is balanced. No outage schedules are applied," the agency added.

Consequences of shelling

Overnight, as a result of repeated enemy shelling, overhead lines in Chernihiv region were reportedly damaged, and 1,500 consumers in 19 settlements were cut off from electricity.

The shelling damaged power grids in Dnipropetrovska oblast, resulting in the shutdown of OHL 150 and a 150 kV substation.

As a result of hostilities, a gas distribution pipeline was damaged in a frontline village in Kharkiv region. Gas supply to 26 consumers was cut off.

Emergencies

Two malicious damages without oil spills have been detected at a main oil pipeline in Poltava region. The investigation is ongoing, the Energy Ministry said.

Import/exportImport/export

For the current day, electricity imports are forecasted at 1691 MWh. Exports are also expected to reach 6446 MWh.
