High-speed trains and train stations in Kyiv and Lviv have been equipped with sign language announcements. This is part of Ukrzaliznytsia's barrier-free strategy, which includes modernization of railway stations and new services for people with disabilities.

Sign language alerts have appeared on high-speed trains and on the screens of Kyiv and Lviv railway stations.  This was reported on Thursday, August 22, by the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia, UNN reports.

Sign language alerts have been introduced on high-speed trains and on the screens of Kyiv and Lviv railway stations. This is an important step to ensure access to information for people with hearing impairments

- Ukrazaliznytsia said in a statement.

Reportedly, the notifications will provide information about the start of an air raid, the location of restrooms, children's areas, auxiliary services at train stations and on trains, and other important information.

It is noted that the changes are part of a global barrier-free strategy. In 2 years, UZ has implemented more than 100 projects to modernize train stations, upgrade rolling stock, introduce new services for people with disabilities, and enable online ordering of inclusive cars.

Employees of the information zones at railway stations in Kyiv, Lviv, Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Odesa, Kharkiv, Uzhhorod, Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Chernivtsi are already using tablets with a specialized application.

It provides round-the-clock access to sign language interpreters, which guarantees free communication for passengers with hearing impairments.

The app allows railroad employees to call a sign language interpreter as soon as the need arises. Communication takes place via video: the employee speaks, and the interpreter immediately translates it into sign language; when a passenger with a hearing impairment speaks, the interpreter speaks with his or her voice.
