Umerov discusses strengthening of the Drone Coalition with Latvian Defense Minister

The Ministers of Defense of Ukraine and Latvia discussed military support and strengthening of the Drone Coalition. Latvia will provide Ukraine with €112 million in military aid and thousands of drones to counter Russian aggression.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov met with a Latvian delegation led by Defense Minister Andris Spruds. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, UNN reports.

Together with the team, we briefed our Latvian colleagues on the latest developments at the frontline and the process of equipping fortifications.  Discussed ways to further strengthen our strong partnership

- Umerov said. 

The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that this year Latvia will provide Ukraine with military support worth about 112 million euros and will continue to provide defense assistance at the level of 0.25% of its GDP annually.

It is noted that an important topic of the meeting was  the strengthening of the Drone Coalition, where Latvia plays a leading role.

Within the framework of this international coalition, the process of transferring Latvian-made drones to the Ukrainian Defense Forces is underway. In total, Latvia will provide Ukraine with several thousand drones to repel large-scale Russian aggression. They discussed the following steps to strengthen the Coalition, which has already united almost two dozen countries

In his turn, Latvian official Sprūds expressed his readiness to work with other countries to involve them in the Coalition and similar initiatives in support of Ukraine.

Recall

Latvia is preparing to send the largest batch of 1400 drones to Ukraine . In total, the country has provided Ukraine with 3,000 attack drones as part of the International Coalition for the Development of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.
