The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights expresses concern about the growing indifference of the international community to the ongoing war in Ukraine, which has caused enormous suffering and casualties.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk has expressed fears that the international community has "become indifferent" to the war in Ukraine, UNN reports with reference to Voice of America

A new report by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights reportedly says that Russia's armed invasion and occupation of Ukrainian territory will have long-term consequences for Ukraine and its people at a time when global attention to this critical situation seems to be waning.

"Despite the horrific stories of human suffering that take place every day in Ukraine, I fear that the world has become indifferent to this crisis," said UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.

Speaking at a meeting of the UN Human Rights Council on Tuesday, Turk said: "More than two years have passed since the Russian Federation launched a full-scale armed attack on the country. Two years of immense suffering, bloodshed, loss and grief. Countless families have been torn apart.

He noted that, according to some reports, more than 10,500 civilians were killed and more than 20,000 injured during the conflict.

"The real data is likely to be much higher," he said.
