Zelensky answers whether Trump will be able to force Ukraine to give up everything to reach a deal with Russia

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, commenting on the situation if Donald Trump, if he wins the US election, wants to simply force Ukraine to give up everything in order to reach an agreement with Russia, said he did not think it was possible today. He said this in an interview with the South Korean TV channel KBS, reports UNN.

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine has no constitutional right to give up its legitimate state territories in any case. Therefore, legally, it is simply impossible. 

"The new US president can either strengthen support for Ukraine or weaken it. Weakening support for Ukraine will allow Russia to occupy us more. Weakening support for Ukraine will not allow us to win this war. Therefore, we are not talking about compromises and territories, but we are talking about the fact that there may be certain diplomatic ways, but they depend on US policy, if it does not weaken, and the desire of the United States to really end the war quickly," Zelensky said. 

Zelenskyy noted that Trump declared that he was a man of action and just wanted to end the war quickly and find some kind of model. 

"But if Trump wants to simply force Ukraine to give up everything (the territories - ed.) in order to reach an agreement with Russia, I don't think it's possible today," Zelensky said.

Commenting on the war in Ukraine, James David Vance, a Republican candidate for vice president of the United States, spoke about "ceding territory". He statedthat Donald Trump's leadership would facilitate a "peaceful"  settlement. 

The Financial TimesThe Financial Times reportedthat if he wins the US presidential election, Donald Trump may resort  to "rethinking" the Minsk agreements to try to "freeze" the war in Ukraine.
