There are 5-6 airlines that would like to start flying in the Ukrainian airspace from January 2025. Boryspil Airport is the initial idea. But everything will depend on air protection. This was stated by Crispin Allison, senior partner at Marsh McLennan, an insurance brokerage, at the Kyiv International Economic Forum (KIEF), a correspondent of UNN reports.
"Boryspil was our initial idea. Three quarters of a billion dollars are needed to insure Boeing alone. This is a very heavy commitment. I think we are now ready for these political decisions. It will depend on air protection, but I think in general we are lucky, we have 5-6 airlines that would like to start working from January
He also noted that it will depend on how air defense systems are deployed, etc.
"I would say that Lviv is much safer than Tel Aviv. Economically and politically, what is more urgent and demanding is to find the kind of wartime insurance for the kind of assets that Ukraine needs, especially for this winter," Ellison said.
AddendumAddendum
At the end of October 2024, Ukraine presented a roadmap for opening airspace under martial law, presenting a step-by-step plan and needs for partial reopening of airspace.
