The abbot of the Sviatohirsk Lavra, who disseminated information about the location of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, was taken into custody. The court imposed on him a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention without the alternative of bail. This was reported by the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office on Thursday, UNN reports .
At the request of the prosecutors of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, a custody without alternative to bail was imposed on a native of the Republic of Karelia, who is reasonably suspected of unauthorized dissemination of information about the deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Part 2 Art. 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
According to the prosecutor's office, in September 2023, the rector of the Sviatohirsk Holy Dormition Lavra of the UOC-MP disseminated military information. In particular, during his sermon, he told the faithful about the locations of checkpoints, as well as units of the Armed Forces, the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Police and the Defense Forces of Ukraine on the territory of the Sviatohirsk Monastery.
He faces up to 8 years in prison.
Metropolitan Arseniy, the abbot of the Sviatohirsk Lavra of the UOC (MP), was served with a suspicion notice by the Security Service of Ukraine for "tipping off" the Nazis to the positions of the Armed Forces in Donetsk region.
