The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved an action plan to implement Ukraine's demographic development strategy until 2040, which includes, among other things, facilitating the return of Ukrainians from abroad and creating conditions for increasing the birth rate.
UNN reports this with a link to the Government portal.
The Strategy of Demographic Development of Ukraine until 2040 is a high-level document designed to overcome the critical demographic threats facing Ukraine. The Action Plan, in turn, defines specific steps. This document is the result of a thorough study of international experience and a comprehensive discussion involving interested government agencies, international partners and the public
It is reported that this is a step towards fulfilling one of the indicators of Ukraine's Plan for the implementation of the EU's Ukraine Facility initiative, aimed at improving the situation on the labor market and the living standards of Ukrainians.
The Action Plan of the Strategy is a set of clear tasks to be implemented by the government, regional and local administrations in cooperation with business, international partners and the public. Working together on these tasks will allow us to move closer to demographic sustainability and provide better conditions for the life and development of every Ukrainian
The approved plan covers the following key areas of work: - Support for births and families:
- Implementation of comprehensive social and economic measures aimed at creating conditions for increasing the birth rate and developing infrastructure for families with children.
- Reducing premature mortality: expanding access to quality medical services and implementing measures to prevent the main causes of premature mortality.
- Attracting migrants and facilitating the return of Ukrainians from abroad: developing programs for the return of citizens, creating favorable conditions for integration and employment.
- Promoting active longevity: support for employment of mature and older people, measures for active and healthy aging, and creation of a barrier-free environment.
- Building infrastructure for a quality life: providing Ukrainians with affordable and comfortable housing and infrastructure to build a country they want to live in.
Increase the employment rate of vulnerable groups: retraining programs, employment for people with disabilities, internally displaced persons and veterans, including the development of flexible forms of employment and promotion of formal employment.
All involved ministries, agencies, and public organizations will work to implement the measures of the Strategy for Demographic Development of Ukraine until 2040.
It also provides for regular reporting by the responsible agencies on the implementation of the Strategy's measures.
