On the night of December 15, unknown persons cut down an oak tree in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital, which was planted by the townspeople in memory of Ukrainian defender Roman Ratushnyi. This was reported by the Kyivzelenbud municipal association, UNN reports .

The incident occurred at night at 49 Sichovykh Striltsiv Street. The tree that Kyiv residents planted on December 13, 2023, did not stand for several days.
The twelve-year-old oak tree, provided by the NGO Save the Flowers of Ukraine, was supposed to be a symbol of the struggle for Ukraine's independence and a living reminder of the price of our freedom
It is noted that the communal services of the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv and patrons of the arts have already appealed to law enforcement agencies to identify and prosecute the persons who destroyed the tree.

Kyiv City Council deputies unanimously supported the naming of the Protasiv Yar reserve after Roman Ratushnyi. The Protect Protasiv Yar community promised that they would make efforts to ensure that Protasiv Yar would remind future generations of Kyivites of Roman for a long time to come.
