Ukraine and the United States have agreed to expanded monitoring of the end use of weapons, which includes regular inventories, joint physical inspections with partners, and special inspections. This is reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, UNN reports.

Details

Thus, the Ministry of Defense will provide additional transparency regarding the storage and use of foreign weapons. The ministry explained that some types of missiles, launchers, UAVs, and night vision devices transferred by American partners require careful monitoring and special storage conditions.

To fulfill this task, a joint Concept was signed with the US Embassy's Defense Cooperation Section, initiated by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.

All countries that provide us with weapons will be sure that these weapons will not fall into the wrong hands, that they are controlled exclusively by the government, and that they are used in a legal manner. For its part, Ukraine is doing its best for this. It's time to strengthen the reputation of our country by turning it into an initiator and a model of transparency and accountability

  - commented Deputy Minister of Defense Yuriy Dzhyhyr.

Addendum

By agreement, Armed Forces officials are trained in the use of special electronic devices and conduct inventories at arsenals, bases, and warehouses throughout Ukraine.

The necessary supervision over the availability, accounting and compliance with proper storage conditions will now be carried out by the Defense Ministry with foreign partners.

Thus, U.S. experts will regularly participate in joint on-site inspections and advise on the necessary issues, because "Monitoring the end use of defense articles provided by the United States is a joint responsibility of the partner country and the U.S. Government," the Concept states.

To recap,

the Pentagon positively assessed the use of American weapons by the Ukrainian military. The use of HIMARS missile systems and Western-style air defense systems proved to be effective on the battlefield.
