Ukraine launches pilot project to provide social support in military units

A pilot project has been launched in Ukraine to provide social support services to military personnel and their families on the basis of military units. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, according to UNN.

Details 

The ministry explains that social support is an opportunity to get help in civilian matters for a military and his family at the beginning of service, during its passage and at the stage of demobilization.

For example, to advise on paperwork or representation in government agencies, to inform about payments and benefits, to provide legal assistance, assistance in the prevention of addictions, and to organize family support together with social work specialists in the community. 

The pilot is currently being launched in four regions: Poltava, Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Volyn. Military units have been selected to be the first to join the project. The service providers are already known - that is, the organizations that will provide this support

 - the statement says.

Addendum 

The Ministry of Social Policy is convinced that the involvement of  NGOs in the service delivery process will expand the market of social service providers, and most importantly, improve the efficiency of such services through relevant expertise.

Among the organizations involved in the project 

  • is the Nashe Pravo Charitable Foundation, which specializes in advising military personnel on their rights and state guarantees, has expertise in the social and psychological rehabilitation of military personnel and their families, and can provide legal counseling support;
  •  The Tuesday Charitable Foundation, which already has experience in providing social assistance to the military and their families, actively cooperates with a number of NGOs in ensuring the rights and state guarantees for Ukraine's defenders;
  • The Women's Power of Ukraine NGO is a civic organization focused on helping military families maintain trust in the family and sustainable partnerships;
  •  The Where We Are - Ukraine Charitable Foundation. The foundation focuses on counseling military personnel and their families on social issues. In addition, the foundation's experts are the authors of training programs on working with veterans and contribute to improving veteran policies at the local and national levels.

To recap

The Ministry of Defense has digitized military medical examination, which allowed the exchange of electronic documents between medical institutions and military units, eliminating the need for wounded soldiers to bring documents in person.
