An apartment on the 8th floor of a 10-story building caught fire in the Desnianskyi district of Kyiv. The fire spread to the 9th and 10th floors. Rescuers evacuated 10 people and rescued a cat.
In the afternoon, on August 16, a large-scale fire broke out in a residential high-rise building in Kyiv. According to preliminary data, 10 people and a cat were rescued during the fire. This was reported by the State Emergency Service, UNN reports.

Emergency officials said that on August 16, at 15:16, the operational coordination center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kyiv received a report of a fire at 16 Oleksandra Ekster Street in the Desnianskyi district of the capital.
Upon arrival, the rescuers found that the fire had started in one of the apartments on the 8th floor of a 10-story residential building and spread to the 9th and 10th floors.
At 15:55 the fire was localized and at 16:29 it was eliminated. 37 firefighters and 7 units of fire and rescue equipment were employed at the scene. The cause of the fire will be established by law enforcement agencies
According to preliminary data, 10 people were rescued during the fire. Firefighters also found a cat in an apartment on the 10th floor. The cat was given to its owner, who took it to a veterinary clinic.
