Another Canadian province recognizes the Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainians

Prince Edward Island has become another Canadian province to recognize the Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainians, joining the decision of the Canadian Parliament in 2008.

The Canadian province of Prince Edward Island has recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.  The bill was adopted at a meeting of the General Assembly of the Province of Prince Edward Island, UNN reports.

In addition, the bill introduces the commemoration of the Holodomor victims. This was reported by Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada Yulia Kovaliv on Facebook.

Kovaliv reminded that the Parliament of Canada had recognized the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people in 2008. as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. According to her, this week across Canada, the memory of the innocent victims is being honored the memory of the innocent victims of the Holodomor.

As noted in CBC, Prince Edward Island this week became the 8th province to declare a day of remembrance of remembrance for the victims of the 1932-1933 Holodomor.

55 UN member states and the EU signed a declaration on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor, initiated by Ukraine. Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba emphasized the growing international attention to the tragedy and the need to prevent of such atrocities.
