In Zakarpattia, a group of offenders attacked a border guard and took his weapon. Two of them fled to Romania, but all three offenders were detained thanks to cooperation with Romanian border guards.

A group of offenders attacked one of the servicemen of a border patrol in Zakarpattia. All the attackers have now been detained. The State Border Guard Service provided details of the incident and assured that they are establishing all the circumstances and are in contact with Romanian border guards, UNN reports.

According to the State Border Guard Service, they tried to stop the three offenders while they were trying to illegally cross the border into Romania.

"The men attacked the serviceman, took away his weapon and fled in the direction of the neighboring country. Additional groups were immediately sent to the scene to search for the offenders and check the rear approaches to the border. The Romanian border guards and interacting law enforcement agencies were also informed," the SBGS reported.

In addition, Ukrainian border guards soon detained one of the violators nearby, who was trying to overcome engineering barriers to cross the border. He turned out to be a resident of Zakarpattia.

"... the neighboring party reported that, according to the Ukrainian side, they detained a Ukrainian citizen with documents near the border, and soon found a weapon that the attackers had taken away. The detainee pointed it out to them. They also detained another of the fugitives," the SBGS added.

Ukrainian border guards also found ammunition that the attackers threw away not far from the scene of the attack on the soldier while fleeing.

"At present, all the necessary actions are being taken to establish all the circumstances and we are in contact with the Romanian border guards," the SBGS summarized.
