After Donald Trump won the US election, several black men and women, including students and even schoolchildren, received racist text messages with references to slavery.
Reports sent anonymously were registered in several states, including New York, Alabama, California, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.
It is not yet known who sent the messages, and there is no complete list of locations from which they were sent.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation confirmed that it had been informed of such reports.
“The FBI is aware of offensive and racist text messages being sent to individuals across the country,” the FBI said in a statement.
The FBI has indicated that it is in contact with the Ministry of Justice in connection with this case. An investigation is underway.
