In the province of Valencia, 92 people died due to severe flooding, and 95 in the country as a whole. Thousands of rescuers are searching for the missing, and the authorities have allocated 250 million euros to help the victims.

In Spain, the search for missing persons resumed on Thursday morning in the area most affected by the weather - in the province of Valencia, where flooding has killed at least 92 people. In total, 95 people died in the country due to severe flooding. Meanwhile, local media and residents are posting videos and photos of flooded Valencia, UNN reports

The scale of the natural disaster in Valencia can be seen in a series of videos taken from a bird's eye view .

A thousand soldiers of the emergency unit, as well as thousands of members of the Civil Guard, fire service and police are involved in the search for the missing.

Meanwhile, the weather continues to rage, and today heavy rains are particularly threatening in two areas: the northeast (where an orange alert has been issued in northern Castellón and southern Tarragona) and the southwest (yellow alert in the provinces of Cadiz, Huelva and Seville in Andalusia and throughout Extremadura).

In the area of Maestrasgo (Castellón), in a few hours, in some places, heavy rains fell with a volume of up to 300 liters per square meter.

Thousands of people are still without electricity in their homes, and the material damage is incalculable.

Many roads in the province of Valencia are still blocked, and thousands of cars are stuck in the water.

High-speed trains between Madrid and the Valencian region and the Mediterranean corridor to Barcelona, as well as most local trains, have been suspended.

The president of the Valencian regional government announced an aid plan under which the region will mobilize €250 million, including €6,000 in direct aid to each victim, as well as transportation subsidies and housing reconstruction assistance.

AddendumAddendum

Amid the deadly disaster, the EU said it was ready to help Spain, but had not yet received any requests. In particular, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen informed the country about assistance.

It was reported that the Spanish Ministry of Defense is proposing to provide mobile morgues for the flood-affected areas, as there are fears that the number of victims may increase.

Recall

As previously reported, at least 63 people were killed by floods in eastern Spain . This is the highest number of flood victims in Europe since 2021, when 185 people died in Germany.
